The hardest part for me was running the Camera wires. if I hook up Rear view mirror cameras it will switch when I turn on my blinker but I think Im going to pass on those.Īfter doing this install I can honestly say with the instructions and some basic understanding you can do this install yourself. When Im doing under 7mph it automatically switches to the front view camera also. No need to tie into any factory wires at all. The Lockpick automatically switches your screen to rear view camera when you put it into reverse. Also another nice thing About Lockpick Pro Harness you can have up to 5 Camera's Hook up a back dvd screen off of this. So for 280$ you get more options with the Lockpick then flashing your stereo. You don't need to flash your stereo for this to work. the Lockpick even comes with Connectors already preinstalled on it which is nice. If you have the Mygig Stereo then get the Lockpick Pro its plug and play and you hook up the Camera wires to the Lockpick harness its very well documented and every wire is labeled so you don't have to be a pro to put this in. I have 0 regrets and it works perfectly.u I went with the Lockpick Pro which is spendy 280$ on Ebay but it gives you a lot more options and is plug and play. you can do an online search about that, this would require an additional expenditure but it does offer and unlock many extra options not available from FCA. There are other options for unlocking the Mygig radio, one of them is called a Lockpick. If you use the Mygig radio you will have to have the dealer do an update flash so your radio will display the camera. You can also get a stand a lone monitor to display the camera. You will need a touch screen radio (Mygig or other brand with screen) or you can get a rear view mirror with a display. You can also get other independant kits that will work well also. I installed an auto lock tailgate at the same time I did the camera so the loom made it easier to consolidate and run the wires to the front. I would also suggest you get a wire loom for all wires. This camera will install for the ideal view of the. The camera is durable for use in the roughest weather conditions. With 150° everything behind the vehicle can easily be seen without distortion. The camera has a 150° angle which is best viewing angle for a vehicle. For the 2009 you will need the whole harness assy that comes with the kit. The Backup Camera is mounted in the tailgate for a clean and secure look. I didn't take any pics while I was doing it, as it was something that I sort of made up as I went along. You can get the camera system from FCA through the dealer or you can find it on Ebay or amazon or one of our local Ram sponsors on this site. I secured the wires with several wire tires (tie wraps) and replaced the a pillar. I made my connections, inserted everything (as best I could) in wire loom, pulled it taunt allowing the excesses to drop back down in the a pillar. I sandwiched the cable connector piece under the plastic of the sun visor mount and tightened all the screws down. I loosened the screws for the sun visors (near the a pillar has two 8mm bolts, the inner one is a T15 torx). With an RCA cable and power connection "plug" things got to be fairly thick.Īfter a little bit of scratching my head, I cut a couple of rounded "one hole" plastic cable fasteners so that the hole and a few mm of plastic remained. The hard part was getting the wires across to my mirror monitor. I also removed the "a pillar" (it's just two 8mm bolts) so that I could run the wires up under the a pillar. I then ran the wires underneath the sill plates towards the front. I had to take remove the sub woofer long enough to snake the wires. I then found a rubber/ plastic plug that I could pop out under the cab that lead underneath the "storage" under the rear passenger seat. I found a hole near the front of the bed to get back underneath the truck. I snaked 'em up into the bed, and ran them under the bed rug. I have a bed cover on mine, so it made running the cables pretty easily.
